“Living in Aalborg has proven [to] me that coming to Denmark to study and work has been the best choice I could have made: From my first day on, I felt welcome and appreciated as an international student. Participating in Danish classes or engaging in programs like the Global Growth Agents (now called YDP) has helped me to find friends, to grow my network and develop my personality. Aalborg as my student city has given me so much with all its leisure time activities, business opportunities, the inspiring fjord and of course its amazing people – I wouldn’t want to change it for anything.”

Alumni from the Business & Management Department at Aalborg University

“Through GGA (now called YPD) I got to know a lot of other students and throughout the workshops, I have learned a lot about self-presentation and teamwork. It was valuable to know that there is somebody at the International House who will help me to pursue a career in Denmark but also who would help me with any other problem or difficult situation. This is important when you are abroad without family and friends, especially in the beginning. I remember that one day all GGAs from our year met to help one of our GGA friend with her project work. She needed us as test persons in a case study and she knew she could count on us as a group.”

“First time I heard about ‘International House North Denmark’ and its programs were from my Business teacher at that time. Their collaborations with the International Office at University College Nordjylland were really beneficial for us. The workshops and networking events contributed to understanding the Danish culture and workplace, plus other strategic competences. I was not the best public speaker before coming to Denmark, but these courses steadily boosted my confidence. They also convinced me of how important it is to understand and speak Danish within the market, so I decided to be enrolled in Danish courses. I strongly acknowledge the terminology came in handy to have conversations and solve tasks in Danish in my part-time job. Another good thing about International House North Denmark’s collaboration with UCN International Office was the company meetings that were a plus as we interacted with the market and became aware of hiring process tips and tricks.”
